HR - One-to-One Recruiting: The Importance of Personalizing All Aspects of Recruiting

ERE.net posted an interesting article about approaching recruiting on a 1 to 1 basis and how personalizing an approach may help attract the positions that tend to be a little on the hard side to fill. They start off by referencing a university that took this approach in a rather bold manner by creating billboards, mall posters, TV commercials and more and including specific people and details about these people and calling out to them to come to their university. Check out the article and let us know your thoughts!

Times are tight and your budget's even tighter.
One of your challenges: What is a way that you can help build your brand and bolster the word about your brand among your audience and potential candidates? Social media. That's one answer.

INTERNET - It’s Web 2.009: Is your company’s career portal keeping up?

ERE's post about the usability of a website for your recruitment surprised me a bit. One of our coworker's son actually has a career devoted towards testing the usability of websites. Basically, he checks through a site to make sure that it is easy for consumers to navigate, clear and clean in design so you can accomplish tasks efficiently and offers suggestions on how to adjust sites to fit the target audience's needs. This articles offers a quick overview at reviewing your own career's site in the aspects of usability, efficiency, performance, recall and emotional connection. It can certainly bring attention to aspects you might not have previously considered.

HR - Recruiting Predictions for 2009

David Manaster posted his predictions for HR in 2009 on ere.net.

One I would add?

Smaller niche ad firms will rise in recruitment as large agencies resist adopting reasonable rate structures.

Aside from recruitment moving in house and away from agencies, they may in turn start hunting down agencies that offer realistic rates to help handle their placements and planning. All sides of business are feeling a crunch and many don't have the extra cash to be throwing away $1,500 on 1 ad design. Recruitment ad agencies are going to have to start working smarter and harder for their clients to help them meet their goals. This doesn't mean they can't earn their money off their work, but appropriate rate structures can't be ignored. Not on the recruitment side, but this request was already seen between a GM and the large agencies involved with them.

HR - 10 Rules for Dating and Recruiting

I ran across a short article on ERE.net going over a comparison between dating and recruitment from the recruiter's view point. They make for some easy to remember guides when thinking of your hiring process for the coming year. Number seven has got to be one of the strongest ones. Whether you hire a candidate or not, let them know what is going on and keep them updated. It helps your overall brand image and keeps all candidates happy.

NON-TRADITIONAL - Recruiting Strategies — Proximity Recruiting Using a Taco Truck

I found a rather bold article on ere.net today that talked about Tokbox recruiting from Yahoo by setting up a taco stand across the street from the building and offering a free lunch to anyone wiling to have a quick chat. The speed that they talked to these potential recruits was helpful in that the quick conversations helped to keep the employees from becoming too nervous. Some might consider a campaign like this in bad taste, but then again, who is losing and gaining the employees?
What are your thoughts on a bold move like this towards your competitors?
