Layar: The next step from QR Codes?
Imagine the possibilities for recruitment. Pass out brochures where people hover over people to receive video fo their testimonials or a chance for recruiters to tell people about the company rather than people having to read through an extensive brochure. People are much more likely to sit through a video rather than read through several paragraphs. While this might be on the horizon, it never hurts to keep an eye on the coming technology and keeping in mind how we can apply it to HR and Recruitment Alternative Methods.

PRINT - Targeted Amsterdam Recruitment

Stumbled across this placement for Euro RSCG. (It was originally in Dutch and has been translated which is why it looks Photoshopped.) via: http://adland.tv/ooh/euro-rscg-amsterdam-recruitment-very-targeted-poaching-poster
How are you approaching experienced professionals in your field? Where do you draw the line when you start to specifically target other company's employees? What do you consider outside the boundaries of your company's image?
Would you be bold enough to offer free lunch across the street of a competitor if people would just come talk to you? Or setting up billboards along routes to competitors listing your unique selling points that place your above the competitors and how you can improve the lives of the employees?

PRINT - Darth Vader for DoCoMo

I got my hopes up when I saw these posters that it might be for a recruitment campaign by DoCoMo in Japan but it turned out to be a cell phone promotion. People load their photos into a website to find out if they are Darth Vader's boss. It would have been a possibly fun recruitment campaign...

PRINT - London Ambulance Service
I stumbled across this through Google. It is for the London Ambulance Service. It certainly shows a difference you might see between what you hear at your current job and what you might experience with them. What are you recruiting for right now and what do they encounter out of the norm in their day to day life? What makes this position so different from others? Keep that in mind when you work up your ads. It is not just the company you can differentiate but what candidates gain from the position at your company.

PRINT - Microland.com Recruitment Ads

This campaign helps use the headline to draw attention and makes a quick delivery of the requirement, "If you have a neutral accent, call us." It is a great example of displaying a headline, call to action and company name. By being so simple in design and straightforward it keeps potential candidates from having to sift through information to find the message.
Targets already have to notice your ad out of the rest of the advertising clutter, don't make them have to work even harder to find your message.
How would your start to eliminate clutter from your message?

PRINT - Marico "Uncommon Sense"
Marico's ads are a bit on the nontraditional side in their print approach due to the headlines. The ads draw the attention with brainteasers and then in their body copy describe how their employees have to problem solve and keep at challenges which is what has brought their company to success. Check out the campaign below. Click to enlarge the text and better view the body copy. Via: http://www.adsoftheworld.com/

PRINT - Odd beasts abound in Seattle's film-fest ads

This is a fun advertising campaign, "Find the unexpected" done by WongDoody for the Seattle International Film Festival. Look closely at each and find small silhouettes that make up the overall image. Quite unexpected huh? This is a creative approach to get the public interacting with the theme, each poster remaining consistent to the campaign, but providing a new visually puzzling challenge.

PRINT / MOBILE - Can mobile save print classifieds?
Here's a great article talking about the power of combining mobile marketing with print advertising. Cheezehead: Can mobile save print classifieds? Rather than online taking viewers away from print, print advertising combined with mobile marketing can be an effective way to route your candidates to your online corporate and social networking websites. It is important that you maintain your brand offline—through print—in order to build brand awareness and encourage candidates to stay in-tuned, receiving your updates. By providing them alternative ways—on all media spectrums—to receive immediate updates and information about your company, keeps you at the top of their minds. The info you provide can be anywhere from job fairs, openings, or events your company takes part in. After all, we are in an age where we feel the need to have information at the tip of our fingers at any given moment. A simple way to direct job seekers to online or start receiving your updates through their phones, is posting a number that they can text in, at the bottom of your ads as well as mentioning it during your radio spots. It's a fun and interactive way for job seekers to become involved and informed about your company. What are your thoughts?
