BILLBOARDS - Viral Recruitment

This is an old article from Ad Rants (from back in 2005.)
A billboard was posted to look like friends at a company were trying to get their friend Lance a date. In the end, once people visited the website that was linked up it said that you don't have to date lance to meet him, you could work with him. During the kick off of this campaign many news media missed the fact it was actually a recruitment campaign by LogoWorks and only reported the first half of it all about the guy on the billboard looking to date.

SOCIAL NETWORKS - Privacy, Data and Social Networks

Passing this article along that covers how social media users are responding to their information and privacy and where social media is heading. Adrants also points to articles by CNN and the New York Times that cover data sharing and cross-platform utility. What are your thoughts on privacy and social networks?

FRIDAY FUN - Recruitment workers strip-off for TV show

The Naked Office - June 1
After a good reception of one episode that aired last season it seems that the show has 6 more episodes in store; one of them focusing on Aspire Contract Services, a construction recruitment specialist.

This seems a bit like the original "Casual Friday" submission to the Career Builder user generated content campaign that went on before this past Super Bowl...

PRINT - Targeted Amsterdam Recruitment

Stumbled across this placement for Euro RSCG. (It was originally in Dutch and has been translated which is why it looks Photoshopped.) via: http://adland.tv/ooh/euro-rscg-amsterdam-recruitment-very-targeted-poaching-poster
How are you approaching experienced professionals in your field? Where do you draw the line when you start to specifically target other company's employees? What do you consider outside the boundaries of your company's image?

Would you be bold enough to offer free lunch across the street of a competitor if people would just come talk to you? Or setting up billboards along routes to competitors listing your unique selling points that place your above the competitors and how you can improve the lives of the employees?

GENERATION - Teens and Texting

http://www.adrants.com/2010/05/in-case-you-didnt-know-teens-prefer.php
This is a brief overview of a study conducted about teens' preffered communication methods. Is your recruitment message ready to be on their mobiles yet? Beyond the text message campaigns there are also the smart code campaigns. Just walking around a book store yesterday I saw at least four displays with the codes displayed to access additional information.

FRIDAY FUN - Lady Gaga and the US Army

Just passing this video along. Looks like after it was filmed people were wondering if those involved in making it were going to get into any trouble but Major Michelle Baldanza of the 82nd Airborne Division said that there would be no reprimand and the video actually helped to show the high morale and humor that is felt among the paratroopers.

It isn't a recruitment video but it certainly shows the lighter side of the US Army.

Anyone remember this video?

PRINT - Darth Vader for DoCoMo

I got my hopes up when I saw these posters that it might be for a recruitment campaign by DoCoMo in Japan but it turned out to be a cell phone promotion. People load their photos into a website to find out if they are Darth Vader's boss.  It would have been a possibly fun recruitment campaign...

College Recruitment - Betzalel: Grab a Chair, Sit Down & Let's Talk

As we have mentioned before, part of integrating social media into your recruitment campaign is about creating a dialogue with active and passive candidates whether they show an active interest at the time or not. Betzalel, a design college, created a great campaign to initialize the conversation with potential candidates to it's college. People we asked to design a chair and in response people from the college would review the pieces and send feedback on the people's work. This created an active dialogue between the college and the potential students before other colleges even started their initial recruitment.
Garnering that first relationship with the company or brand greatly increases loyalty, recall and recognition of what you offer your candidates in comparison of your competitors. When it stops appearing to be a straight sell and shows that you are more interested in the people involved rather than candidates just being another number in the long list of CVs/resumes, it changes the perspective the potential employees have towards your company. It may have the appearance of a long-term soft sell but at the same time, the quality and loyalty of the candidates you attract may be greatly increased.
