NEWS - Starbucks to cut 6,700 jobs, close 300 stores

Starbucks is closing 300 stores globally, resulting in approximately 6,000 employee's jobs being eliminated. 700 more corporate jobs will be eliminated as well. Starbucks has also cut back on the amount of new stores opening.

These measures will save Starbucks $500 million for the 2009 fiscal year.

I stumbled across this video talking about using video to help bolster your message to your potential candidates. It also mentioned something called 12seconds.tv, a site similar to Twitter but where users upload 12 second videos in the style of Twitter's short messages.

NEWS - No layoffs -- ever!

CNNMoney.com posted an article listed the top 9 companies that have never had a layoff along with some of their tactics. It will be interesting to see how these companies fare in the coming months. Included in the list are: Nugget, Devon Energy, Aflac, QuickTrip, Container Store, NuStar, Stew Leonard's, Scottrade and Publix.
