SOCIAL MEDIA - Integrating social media into HR processes
I stumbled across an interesting article today on Personnel Today's website about what the goal behind social media recruitment is.
It seems like many HR professionals may look at the different social networks as a way to find candidates like job boards; but in truth, it is more about developing strong bonds with them and developing relationships with stronger and more fitting candidates by allowing them access to a social network already deep within the company culture.
It is true that many times the amount of people in these groups is vastly reduced in comparison with what kinds of reach you could have with the job boards or a simple newspaper ad but what separates the people active on the social networking sites is the fact that you are reaching directly into you niche target and speaking directly to your candidates.
Take a look at the article to see what John Ingham has to say about "head farming" versus "head hunting."

A Little Monday Fun - Monster Job Hunter
I recently attended a convention and a film company had a short film they were promoting and thought I would share. Just a little something to make you smile; it is a little odd but still entertaining. :)

TWITTER - New Ad/Promoted Tweet Approach Available
Twitter has created a new way to promote your business/advertise on their network. They are called "Promoted Tweets." When you are logged into your account and run a search from your homepage, the first tweet that appears will be the Promoted Tweet. The slight twist on this advertising, is that the Promoted Tweet must have been a tweet previously posted. They are also labeled with a yellow "Promoted by ___" box. The goal behind these is not just to gain exposure with your brand name but to also get the people searching for your topic to share information you are providing, like the ability to retweet your post and gain exposure. It will be interesting to see the response from the Twitter community now that this has happened.

NONTRADITIONAL - Promotional Material
This was a nontraditional approach taken by a university. Bedsheets were passed out with images imprinted on them. It was a unique way to spread the word about their dedication to giving exposure of great people to their students in every moment, awake or not.

MILITARY - Army Experience Center
The Experience Center has been around for a while but this is a great video that covers what it offers. Thought I would share it:
NEWS - Google set to start hiring more
Google is looking to hire around 500 sales people along with a variety of engineering, hr, finance and more positions. I'm interested to see if they come out with any unique ways to pull people in with their recruitment advertising. I'll be keeping an eye out for it.

RECRUITMENT WEBSITE - NSFW: Is This The Most Violent Recruitment Site In Japan?
Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, known for his dark sense of humor, is opening a new game development studio called Tango. His new recruitment flash minigame features Mikami being beheaded and the goal is to send his head flying as far as possible with a wide range of outcomes.
With messages like "Join us in Japan! Now hiring!" sprouting from dialogue boxes from the severed head as it is launched through the air, it is certainly a different approach from what you normally come across.
Here is the link to the site: http://mikami-project.com/
To play, you click the left button once to start and then again when the power gauge is at its best.
